Rickard is proud to offer airflow sensing at diffuser level. This technology measures total pressure and air volume allowing easy commissionig, the limiting of maximum diffuser volumes to meet a building’s design, integration with the building BMS, calculation of HVAC energy consumption per zone and aids troubleshooting of problem zones that are out of temperature control.
Electronic Variable Volume Bar Ceiling Diffusers are designed to be joined end-to-end to create uninterrupted lengths of attractive linear bar. The Linear Bar Nozzle is finished in a high quality black epoxy powder coated finish. The Perforated ceiling plate running next to the nozzle makes it easy for the plaster to bond to the diffuser and the nozzle acts as straight edge to ensure a high quality finish.
Electronic Variable Volume Wall Bulkhead Diffuser Wall Bulkhead Diffuser (Double Deflection) is normally used in areas where restricted ceiling voids exist or where fullycovered ceilings are not available. It is intended to discharge supply air into the conditioned space from either a sidewall or bulkhead. The WBD has an excellent ability to distribute air across deep rooms as reflected by the throw data indicated in the selection tables. There are, however, instances where these throws are too great for a specific area & in which case, the rear horizontal deflection vanes will need to be adjusted.
Electronic Variable Volume Ceiling Diffuser offer a number of temperature sensing/controller options: On-board controller and sensing located on the diffuser for maximum floor layout flexibility. A wired wall thermostat with combined controller, sensor and set-point adjuster giving the occupant maximum control and sensing accuracy with slightly less layout flexibility. An on-board controller with wired remote sensing for exceptionally accurate room sensing.
Room temperature is intelligently controlled by varying the supply air volume in accordance with demand. The diffuser controller uses a proportional / integral response to achieve this. Volume control is achieved by opening or closing a set of slotted plates using our patented electric stepper motor, so as to vary the aperture through which the supply air passes. This provides true “VARIABLE GEOMETRY VAV” which effectively maintains air discharge velocity throughout the range of volume control from 100% down to as little as 25%. Air is discharged in a linear vertical or horizontal pattern. Used in conjunction with our MLM controls, maximum and minimum supply air volumes may be adjusted to suit the particular design conditions.
“Volume control is achieved by moving a disc, known as a control disc, vertically up and down within the swirl diffuser. The aperture through which the air passes is adjusted very close to the swirls outlet. This is what constitutes the “VARIABLE GEOMETRY” concept. By directing air through the inside third of the swirl plate at minimum and using the entire swirl plate area at maximum, Air Velocity and Throw is maintained throughout the control range. The position of the control disc is varied by means of an electric actuator which drives the control disc in response to a signal received from a temperature controller. When used in conjunction with one of the RICKARD controllers, the diffuser will control room temperature on a proportional/integral basis. Air is discharged in a horizontal 360º swirl pattern. Used in conjunction with our MLM controls, maximum and minimum supply air volumes may be adjusted to suit the particular design conditions. Diffusers are factory set to deliver 30% volume at the motors minimum position.”
